Myrtle Beach info for all

[powered by WordPress.]

Welcome to my new Myrtle Beach Blog. For those of you who don't know where Myrtle Beach is, it is a seaside town in South Carolina. Great Golfing, the Grand Strand, and lots of family friendly attractions. Great beaches too, with wonderfully warm water in the summertime. My family and I own a small condo in the area between Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach and we visit several times a year. I wanted to start this blog to write about our likes and dislikes in the Myrtle Beach area. We'll talk about our favorite restaurants, shops, attractions, and our favorite things to do. Hopefully it will help any of you who are looking to either buy a place there or just have a great Myrtle Beach Vacation!

Myrtle Beach Pavilion to close

by @ 2:40 pm. Filed under myrtle beach

The Myrtle Beach Pavilion is right in the center of Myrtle Beach - its been there for almost a century.     But after this summer, the Pavilion won’t be there any longer.

“There are not enough people loving it economically,” said Tim Ruedy, vice president of operations for the sports, entertainment and recreation division of Burroughs & Chapin Co., which operates the Pavilion. “All things have to be supported, and for the last number of years, it just hasn’t been financially viable.”

Many visitors are getting older and likely don’t want a spin on a roller coaster. To younger children, used to video games and computers, the rides seem quaint, he said.

Cnn.com provides a nice memorial to the Myrtle Beach Pavilion.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans

by @ 5:22 pm. Filed under myrtle beach

I mentioned a bit earlier something about the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and how much fun it was to see them.   I found a nice article today in Thestate.com that describes all the things that go on at a Pelicans’ game.

“To be as successful as the Myrtle Beach Pelicans have been requires catering to fans who don’t call South Carolina home.”

Back from Myrtle Beach

by @ 4:27 pm. Filed under myrtle beach

We went down to MB for a mini-vacation April 13th-April 17th. The weather was fantastic - mid 80’s and sunny every day. We fly into Wilmington, NC and drove straight down Rt 17 - it only took about and hour and 15 minutes to get to our condo. So next time you’re booking air fare, don’t forget to check out flights to Wilmington, NC. We didn’t get to go to see the Pelicans play, but my son did discover how much fun it was to drive the courses at the Nascar SpeedPark. Can’t wait to go back there!
